Iceland is a member to three international agreements on Narcotic drugs and psychtropic substances:
- Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs (1961)
- Convention on Psychotropic Substances (1971)
- United Nations Conventions against Illicit Traffic on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (1988)
Special rules and licences apply to production, importation, storage and distribution on drugs and substances which are mentioned in the aforementioned agreements. Information on these narcotic drugs and substances is available in regulation on habit-forming and narcotic substances and other controlled substances, No. 233/2001.
International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) is the independant and quasi-judical monitoring body for the implementation of the United Nations international drug control conventions.
