The services that are mostly affected are as follows:
Requests submitted on or after, 20 July 2026, will be received on 4 August. The Icelandic Medicines Agency strives to answer requests within four weeks from submission but applicants may expect delays during the summer months.
Please be informed that all slots for 2026 have been filled. It is possible to apply for a slot starting from the 2nd quarter of 2027; see further details on the website of the Icelandic Medicines Agency.
Requests submitted on or after, 20 July 2026, will be received on 4 August, unless they are urgent. On Package labelling and leaflets.
Safety Advice Tools submitted for review between 20 July – 3 August 2026, will be received on 4 August.
Requests for zero day procedures submitted for review between 20 July – 3 August 2026, will be received on 4 August.
Applications for licenses for clinical trials and functional studies of medical devices and changes to research plans will not be accepted between 20 July – 14 August 2026. Applications submitted during this period will be received after 17 August 2026.
An application for exemption from language requirement submitted between 20 July – 3 August 2026 will be considered received 4 August, unless they are urgent.
Applications for exemptions from CE labeling submitted between 20 July – 3 August 2026, will be received on 4 August. Urgent applications will be attended to as soon as possible.
Applications for certificates of a pharmaceutical products (CPP) are not accepted between 20 July – 3 August 2026. Last day for submitting applications before minimum service period is 17 July 2026.
Applications for importation of controlled substances submitted between 20 July – 3 August 2026, will be received on 4 August. Urgent matters will be handled as soon as possible.
Applications from pharmacy students for permission to perform limited duties of a pharmacist in a licenced pharmacy received on or after 20 July 2026 will be received on 4 August. Urgent applications will be processed as soon as possible.
Please note that the IMA is closed on Monday 3 August 2026 due to Bank holiday.
