The Icelandic Medicines Agency advertises a vacancy for an inspector in its Inspection Unit

The Icelandic Medicines Agency advertises a vacancy for an inspector. The Agency is looking for a candidate who is willing and able to work on demanding and interesting tasks, including travels in Iceland and abroad on behalf of the Agency. The vacancy is a full post (100%).

Main responsibilities

  • Inspections of manufacturers and wholesalers of medicinal products (GMP/GDP).
  • Inspections of marketing authorisation holders, including pharmacovigilance systems.
  • Participating in international cooperation that the Icelandic Medicines Agency engages in.
  • Other tasks in cooperation with the Head of the Inspection Unit.

 

Education and skills

  • Master´s degree in pharmacy, biochemistry, biology or other relevant life science, applicable for the post.
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of manufacturing of medicines and/or their distribution.
  • Good competence in Icelandic and English.
  • Knowledge of one additional Nordic language is beneficial.
  • Very good computer literacy.
  • Ambition and willingness to excel in the job.
  • Very good cooperation skill and aptitude for human interaction
  • Initiative, independence and analytical and organizational skills.
  • Competence to disseminate information in a structured and concise manner.

Salary is in accordance with a contract between the Ministry of Finance and the incumbent´s labour union.

The Icelandic Medicines Agency is a governmental authority under the Minister for Health. The main tasks of the Agency are issuing marketing authorisations for medicinal products in Iceland in collaboration with medicines authorities in the European Economic Area, inspections of pharmaceutical companies and health institutions in Iceland, assessing quality and safety of medicines and to ensure professional information flow to healthcare professionals and patients. The Agency employs 54 staff. The Agency has been rated ninth in a survey on „The Agency of the Year 2017“, with 50 employees or more. The Agency emphasises good work environment, professional development and implements a strategy on balancing family life and work. Neither the Executive Director nor any other staff of the Agency can benefit from interests in manufacturing, importing or distribution of medicines.
