The Icelandic Medicines Agency wishes to recruit experts to its Licensing Unit.

The Agency advertises two vacancies for experts in its Quality Assessment Team. The Agency is looking for strong candidates who are willing to work on challenging and interesting tasks. Each vacancy is a full position (100%).


  • Assessing scientific documentation relating to the quality (Module 3) of drug substances and products due to applications for authorisations of medicinal products
  • Close cooperation with other medicines agencies in the European Economic Area
  • Cross-functional teamwork within the Agency in multiple disciplines
  • Other occasional tasks as decided by a supervisor

Education and skills:

  • Master´s degree in pharmacy, chemistry, biochemistry or other relevant education for the position.
  • A relevant Ph.D. degree is beneficial
  • Competence in statistics is beneficial
  • Experience in assessing bioequivalence studies is beneficial
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Good computer skills
  • Ability for concise writing and oral skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Precision, conscientiousness and disciplined working methods
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good initiative, ambition and independence in work related issues
  • Very good cooperation skill and aptitude in human relations

Salary is in accordance with a contract between the Ministry of Finance and the candidate´s labour union.

The Icelandic Medicines Agency is a governmental authority under the Minister for Health. The main tasks of the agency are issuing marketing authorisations for medicinal products in Iceland in collaboration with medicines authorities in the European Economic Area, inspections of pharmaceutical companies and health institutions in Iceland, to assess quality and safety of medicines and to ensure professional information flow to healthcare professionals and patients. The Agency employees 53 staff. The Agency has been rated ninth in a survey on “The Agency of the Year 2017” with 50 employees or more.
